Manuela Tripepi, Ph.D., is an associate professor of biology and program director for the biology department at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Penn. She also serves as course director for microbiology. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Calabria, Italy, obtaining a B.S. and a M.S. in biology.  

Tripepi earned 1 Ph.D. from the University of Calabria in 2008, and another from the University of Pennsylvania in 2013. Her research focuses on how organisms, from archaea to sea turtles, respond to environmental stressors. During her Ph.D. research at the University of Pennsylvania, she investigated the mechanisms behind Haloferax volcanii's motility. 

At Jefferson University, she works on pedagogical advancement and research. She developed laboratory activities that enhanced student learning and designed adaptable undergraduate research experiences employable during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her pedagogical ideas have led to publications in the Journal of Microbiology and Biology Education (JMBE). 

Her current research project focuses on sea turtle conservation in Cura莽ao, where she works alongside the Sea Turtles Conservation to improve scientific efforts in the region. Tripepi is a passionate advocate for equitable learning environments. Through her research, teaching and mentorship, she strives to make science accessible to all.
